Hosting

You can support the River Valley Regional Food Bank by hosting a donation drive or special event.   You can take action in a meaningful way and raise awareness of hunger in the community, collect food for people in need and play an essential role in the fight against hunger.

All types of items are in great need year-round.   Financial support has never been in more need as well.

Some of our supporters have month long fund drives and some have drives as short as a day or a few hours during a special event.  Some food drives last a weekend or as long as two weeks or even a couple months. Still others maintain a collection process on an ongoing basis.  Likewise, special events can be organized as a onetime effort or become an annual fundraiser.

Food Drives

The Food Bank is in great need year-round, but many food or fund raising events can be created with seasonal themes or devoted to specific causes.  The Food Bank can accept dry, shelf-stable, refrigerated and frozen food items; foodservice items; and personal care and cleaning products.   Consider a themed food drive:  Pasta and jars of spaghetti sauce!  PB&J!  Pancake mix and syrup!  Cereal!  Paper towels and napkins!  How about Red, White and Blue Foods?!!  Just use your imagination.

Set up a food drive in conjunction with a family reunion.  Set up a competition between grades at school or departments at work.  Organize a neighborhood collection effort.  Many grocery stores and supermarkets will allow food drives at their locations.

Also consider adding a “virtual food drive” to your efforts because for every dollar the Food Bank receives, we can distribute 11 pounds of food.  Checks may be made payable to the River Valley Regional Food Bank, or RVRFB, or a virtual AidMatrix donation may be made on this web site.

For more information, please contact Ted Clemons at 479/785-0582, or tclemons@cscdccaa.org

Your delivery of collected items at a scheduled time is an additional contribution to the River Valley Regional Food Bank and we appreciate it!

Fund Drives

No room or little time to conduct a food drive? Try a fund drive instead!

The Food Bank serves as a clearinghouse for reclaimed and donated grocery products.  Food costs are also driven downward through local food purchase and food procurement programs.  Feeding America’s CHOICE System is a web-based tool that allows the Food Bank to acquire product donations made available at the national level.  Through all these programs, and because of many volunteer hours, the Food Bank can distribute over $14 worth of food for every dollar raised and donated.

For example, while 3 cans of green beans for a $1 is a good price at a grocery store, the Food Bank may be able to acquire and inspect as many as 9 unlabeled and perhaps dented cans for that same $1.  Please consider holding a “Provide Food Fund Drive”  Checks may be made payable to the River Valley Regional Food Bank and credit card gifting can be referred to this Web site.

Your family, group or company can raise funds to benefit the hungry in West Central Arkansas.  No amount is too small and no effort is too little.  Call Ken Kupchick at the River Valley Regional Food Bank at (479) 785-0582 for tips on how to make your fund drive a success.

Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action Month!  Yes, HAM!
Be a part of showing 30 Ways of Caring during the 30 Days of September as the Food Bank raises Public Awareness about hunger in our area during the month.  If you would like to be a part of the “30 Ways in 30 Days” campaign, Call Ken Kupchick at 78509582 or contact ken at kkupchick@feedingamerica.org

 Special Events

Have an idea for a special fundraising or public awareness event?  We’d like to hear from you!
Raising awareness about hunger doesn’t necessarily mean raising donations through food-related events.  Any fundraising idea can be hosted with proceeds benefitting the River Valley Regional Food Bank.  Hold a fashion show or sponsor a make-up party.  Host a pot luck dinner or organize a fishing contest.  A holiday like St. Patrick’s Day or Halloween can easily become a fun and inventive fundraising event for the Food Bank.  The possibilities are limitless when you care about those in need of wholesome food.  Call Ken Kupchick at 785-0582 and share your ideas.
